All Recipes are tried and tasted for you to make at home!

Introduction:

I think of myself as been very lucky to be living in times when we can taste the world literally on our door step. Markets, shops, and supermarkets, bursting at the seams with amazing ingredients from all over the world.I want you to come on a journey with me to bring the world together in food and drink.I will be trying new recipes and having fun.

Some recipes I have been collecting and writing for many years, some found on tins and in torn out magazine pages whilst in waiting rooms.

British food and the way we eat as changed dramatically over the years, with people migrating to the UK and bringing their ideas and cuisine with them.In the UK there has been a gradual wave of fusion food in restaurants, street food and cafes, taking British food to a new level with around the world taste sensations.

My idea of Terraced house kitchen is to bring you in to my kitchen, and show you how easy it can be to prepare tasty home cooked food.My recipes are easy to follow nutritious and inexpensive, so you will still have money left in your pocket.
I really like the Chinese way of cooking, i have incorporated a lot in my style of cooking, i still believe the wok is the best invention ever.

I grew up in a small village in Yorkshire, watching my Gran cook in the kitchen and grow food in the garden. From the age of 11-14 I was in a children’s home and use to help in the kitchen, washing up and pealing vegetables. At 14 years old i moved to Nottingham to live with my Mum, she married a Jamaican Man her way of cooking was a fusion of British and Jamaican food, so you could say that’s when my journey of fusion food really began, and my first time tasting spice. My Sunday roast dinner would be Jamaican style chicken with rice & peas, roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings or sometimes Johnny cakes.

Who said food has to stay the same? surely if the ingredients are there we can cook and eat them however we like, so why not mix it all up with a spoon of imagination and enjoy, but never forgetting where the traditional food came from how it got here but at the same time embrace the new.

My Story

I am Christopher Paul . Cooking as been a passion of mine since i was about 16 years old. I worked in various catering out lets before going into care work when i was 26 years old.

I spent 21 years of my life working in the care industry, Nursing homes and rest homes, a big part of my career was in mental health, and I worked for the NHS in Sussex on a stroke rehabilitation ward as a senior care assistant NVQ Level 3, which I thoroughly enjoyed, before the decline of my own mental health, I met some amazing people who work really hard in a really tough job.

In 2012 I decided to move back to the Midlands, a lot to do with the price of living in Brighton and also my mental health took a beating, once back in the midlands, I continued to work in care, for agencies and not long after I had moved in to a really nice terraced house, the care agency I worked for went bust, my mental health hit rock bottom, I searched for work but nothing came up and the ones that did where too far for me to travel as I do not drive.

I decided I no longer wanted to work in care I have been pulling out my hair (not that I need to as I don’t have very much lol) to think of alternative work that I can do.

When I left school I wanted to be a chef I studied at Clarendon collage in Nottingham but dropped out after the first year. I still have a passion for cooking and wanted to reawaken that desire.

I have been suffering with agoraphobia and find it difficult to be in certain environments, narrowing my job search somewhat. After spending too much time watching cooking programs on the TV, and trying to live on next to no money and still trying to stay healthy as been a challenge. Cooking in a small terraced house kitchen is also very challenging with not enough room to swing an oven glove around in lol.
cooking as really helped my mental health problems, giving me something else to focus on almost like therapy, "even though i still loose it sometimes in the kitchen. just make sure your not in the kitchen with me at the same time lol"

Why I want to help people

I still have that caring side to my nature, when you have worked in care, it never leaves you.
I would like to share with you my way of cooking good nutritious food, on the bones of ya rolling pin lol. I am hoping to appeal to those who find it hard to juggle with heating or eating. My recipes will be delicious, nutritious and affordable so you can eat and have the heating on.
